Top 5 drugstore concealers (better than high-end)

concealers

High end make up is great, especially when you want to pamper yourself. However, there are some things, that are just easier and smarter to get from the drugstore.

Living on an island, where the weather is mostly hot, I am not a big fan of foundation, as I do find that it clogs my pores, thus causing my skin to break out.

So what I do, is I replace foundation with concealer. It still helps to even my skin tone, but it’s not as heavy as a foundation would be. The only downside is that I go through them really really quickly. That’s why I was super stoked to find drugstore variations of this item, that are not only budget friendly, but also GET THE WORK DONE!

For me a concealer should tick the following aspects –

  • Easy to blend and apply
  • Highlights yet conceals
  • Doesn’t feel or look heavy on the skin

These are my top picks, that I believe answer up to at least two of the points above.

#1 The winner in drugstore concealers

concealers

One product that ticks all the boxes and is ,without doubts, the number one drugstore concealer everyone should be going out to get, is the Maybelline The Eraser Eye (EU version) , also known as the Instant Age Rewind concealer. IT IS AMAZING! I literally have not found a better product than this one. It doesn’t crease, it doesn’t higlight your dry patches, it covers imperfections etc. The formulae is lightweight and blends beautifully!

If I had to pick just one concealer to use in a lifetime, it would be this one.

#2 Best hydrating concealer

concealers

I have been a fan of the Bourjois brand for quite some time. I remember my mom having their eye shadow pots, when I was a little kid, so their products really make me feel nostalgic.

Also I really believe that the brand doesn’t get as much credit as the other brands do, while producing really good quality makeup.

Their Radiance Reveal concealer has Mont Blanc glacier water & hyaluronic acid in its formulae, making it, not only a correcting product, but a hydrating one as well. It has a pleasant fresh smell and a really nice texture. I find, that the best way to blend it , is with a dampened beauty blender, as it really leaves a flawless finish.

#3 Best waterproof concealer

concealers

The Liquid Camouflage high coverage concealer from the German brand Catrice, is a liquid version of their original camouflage cream pots ( which I personally really don’t like , as I find them to be too heavy and hard to work with). This concealer claims to be waterproof and to even be able to cover tattoos, and guess what , it really does. The formulae is heavier than the first two products, so I do tend to use it on special occasions ( like when it’s that time of the month and I have a huge red zit on my face). However it really stays put! I have even gone swimming with this product and it worked wonderfully.

A great thing to have at pool parties this summer!

#4 Best under-eye concealer

concealers

Eveline is one of the major make up producers in Poland and is available in more than 70 countries worldwide. However I really have not seen a lot of people talk about it. The Professional Art Scenic Make-Up 2 in 1 has a melting formulae that works great for the “No make- up”  make-up look.

Lightweight and easy to blend, this concealer works wonders with your dark circles!

Its only downfall is the fact that it doesn’t have a lot of coverage.

#5 Best for travelling

concealers

Soap and Glory’s Kick Ass Concealer definitely steals the best packaging award.

The little compact, doesn’t just include two shades of concealer in it, but also has a mirror and a setting powder, making it perfect for travelling.

The two shades really solve the problem of getting rid of dark circles and concealing pimples. Even though, I do prefer liquid concealers, as I find them easier to work with and much more hygienic, this concealer has a staple place in my makeup collection, because of its multipurposeness.
