The story behind the brand
The story behind the brand is actually quite interesting. It is a collaboration between a Russian marketing group called Gradient and a make-up factory in Switzerland. According to their press release, Vivienne Sabo was actually a real life person, who was a chemistry student. She was interested in creating new make-up formulas, that were later discovered in her journal, and which are used in the brand’s products today. The beautiful story of her life ( which to be honest, sounds more like a movie plot) can be found on their official site.
The products in my collection
The packaging as I mentioned above is nothing special and really isn’t what makes these products special.
The main surprising factor here is the products’ formulae.
The eyeshadows are very creamy and highly pigmented. There is some fallout happening, but not too much. Quality wise I would put these shadows on the same level as the raved about L’oreal infallible shadows. My only critique would be the color selection, as the variety isn’t too great. The single shadow pot that I own works great as a highlighter too. It leaves behind a subtle champagne glow, that looks very elegant.
The lip gloss looks absolutely magical in the packaging, like a small liquefied galaxy. It has an easy to use wand applicator with a brush, therefore allowing you to evenly apply the product on your lips. The formulae is very comfortable, almost like a lip oil or a lip balm. It isn’t sticky or heavy. The smell is very sweet and candy like (Personally, it reminds me of the chewy sweets called Mumba from my childhood). The glitter in it is beautiful. It doesn’t look chunky. On the contrary it almost melts into your lips giving them a 3D shine effect.
The Cabaret Mascara is for sure the brand’s most popular product. Many professional make – up artists swear by it and have it as a staple in their collections. And after you try it for the first time you will understand why.
What looks like a completely basic mascara wand, gives you the most beautiful voluptuous lashes ever!
It is buildable and doesn’t clump. It lengthens and divides the lashes. Every time I use it my lash game is on point! And it is cheaper than Maybelline’s mascaras! If you had a chance to try only one product from this range, I would definitely recommend you go for the Cabaret Mascara. They have different varieties of it now, but I personally love the original one the most.
The only products that for me were a fail – are the liquid liners.
The colours look amazing and rich. However the applicator is hard to use and isn’t precise. The formulae is quite patchy and takes ages to dry. They look really pigmented and beautiful when swatched, but on the eyes it is a completely different story. So I suggest you skip them.
This brand has some really amazing products. And the prices for them are more than just affordable. Unfortunately, the makeup range isn’t represented in a lot of countries. But if you suddenly see it somewhere, don’t miss your chance! For me they are definitely worth the Hype!
